01 Who We Are

BetterUs ("we", "us", "our") operates the BetterUs mobile application and website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

02 What Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the Service. Here is a summary of what we collect and why:

We do not collect your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any other device permissions beyond push notification access.

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with the following third-party service providers solely to operate the Service:

05 AI and Your Conversations

BetterUs uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to generate journal insights, daily prompts, spark suggestions, and coach responses. When you interact with AI features:

06 Push Notifications

BetterUs sends push notifications to keep you informed of partner activity. Notifications are sent for events including:

You can control which notifications you receive from within the app under Settings → Notifications. You can also disable all notifications at the device operating system level at any time.

Your device notification token is stored securely and is only used to route notifications to your device. It is not shared with third parties other than Firebase (see Section 4).

You may also delete your account directly from within the app. Account deletion triggers permanent removal of all associated personal data within 30 days.

10 Children's Privacy

BetterUs is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@betterus.app and we will delete the account and associated data promptly.

11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (to the address on your account) and/or by displaying a prominent notice in the app, at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
